2017 Friends of Oleta - FIU Earth & Arbor Day Event
Come celebrate Earth + Arbor Day with us. We will plant 200+ beautiful native plants/shrubs/trees donated by local community supporters/donors. This is our 2nd Annual Earth/Arbor Day event and we are so excited about how far we have come thanks to the amazing dedication, hard work + great visions together! We will start the day with a cleanup of debris + prep of new planting sites...and then lots of PLANTING!!! Starbucks is generously donating delicious coffee, giving us a yummy jumpstart...Whole Foods Market will provide some wholesomely good snacks too...

Help us forge ahead with this exciting Oleta parkland project at the corner of 163rd and Biscayne (next to the shell station). Our goal is to significantly increase biodiversity via extensive native plantings, while creating healthy butterfly-bee-bird gardens - replacing previously invasive-filled spaces... More Details: Drop off site for students is the shopping center behind the Oleta site (Paquitos restaurant as landmark in RK shopping center on Biscayne) and parking is also available there. Please wear solid shoes/sun protective clothes/hat/ sunscreen...and we would appreciate if you bring a REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE and/or cup/tumbler for Starbucks coffee + cold water.

COMMUNITY SERVICE credits available to students volunteering w/ bonus hours given. Kids under 15 MUST be supervised by adult.
