Come Join us for the Friends of Oleta + Girl Scouts Troop #460 Biodiversity Boost Planting & Observation Day!

We are spending Saturday planting new native flowers, weeding, mulching, nutrient boosting (with Starbucks coffee grounds)...& taking inventory of our project so far by counting butterflies, birds and plant growth!

We are meeting at the Butterfly Garden and will be there most of the day - please park in Oleta lot #6 and head west, over the small bridge and then left to find us...

Snacks provide by Whole Foods Market North Miami

We will also be fundraising for our project, accepting plant donations for native wildflowers $6, shrubs $8 OR $10 small trees :)

See you there!!!

Project Info:

We continue to revamp and revitalize Oleta's Butterfly Garden, with the goal to redesign the entrance area by adding new native plants and paths, to include EDUCATION and ECOLOGY signage in later stages. The goal is to create spaces where park goers can count butterflies & learn about our native flora and fauna - while boosting Oleta's BIODIVERSITY & ECOSYSTEMS.

More info soon please contact the Friends directly for more information: oletaspfriends@gmail.com

Event Guidelines:

It is best to wear solid shoes, sun-protective clothing, a hat and sunscreen. Please bring a REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE for cold water/drink refills - and at least one glove (can be from garden, kitchen, plastic, etc) because we'll be digging in the dirt!

And, again, don't forget: NO SINGLE USE PLASTIC bottles allowed at this litter-free event so please bring a resuable cup or bottle for cold water/drinks.

COMMUNITY SERVICE credits available to students volunteering. Kids under 15 MUST be supervised by adult.
