Friends Garden Party w/ GS Troop #460 Volunteer Day!
Join us for a Friends of Oleta + Girl Scouts Troop #460 Fall Garden Party - volunteer event! It's a Fall-celebratinging party to highlight our growing + flourishing native-plant gardens. We'll honor our volunteers, donors, friends, families + Mother Nature while volunteering in the garden! We have worked hard to revitalize Oleta's Butterfly Garden, by adding host and nectar plants, removing invasives + non-natives & adding in biodiversity education. Partnering with Girl Scouts Troop 460, working towards their Silver Award, along with our Oleta Butterfly Ambassodors + Young Friends of Oleta, we have created planting zones, which NOW include Nature Educational components to identify the Gardens' flora + fauna species...with MORE signage to come... *We will have DONATION packages available Sunday for plant donations to the garden, OR to take home a native butterfly plant OR to get Friends of Oleta t-shirts! Facebook Event link COMMUNITY SERVICE credits available to students volunteering. Kids under 15 please let us know beforehand. Project Info: We have revamped and revitalized Oleta's Butterfly Garden, redesigning the entrance area w/ a new arbor + by adding new native plants and paths, now including some SPECIES signage WITH more EDUCATIONAL signage to come. The goal is to create spaces where park goers can count butterflies & learn about our native flora and fauna - while boosting Oleta's BIODIVERSITY & ECOSYSTEMS. Any questions, please contact the Friends : oletaspfriends@gmail.com
